Terms & Conditions

Positively Together is a very small family business, and as such I thank you for engaging with consideration, honesty and patience. I pride myself on professional, prompt and accurate communications but there is no admin team behind the scenes, it's all all just me! (The four-legged ones aren't very good at that stuff).

I look forward to you joining the Positively Together whānau. We commit to fair treatment for all, and honest, open and straightforward communication.

So let's see the fine print so that we're all on the same page - I know it's boring but please take the time to read each section, and where relevant, make sure your children or other companions understand also.

By your registration for and attendance at any Positively Together event, class or private training session, you indicate your acceptance of these terms and conditions:

General terms

Payments & Deposits: Full payment must be made at least 14 days before the first day of your class, clinic or programme, unless otherwise agreed. You will receive payment instructions via email or message. Deposits are non-refundable.

Cancellations & Refunds: No portion of the fee is refundable if you are unable to attend or miss part of any session for any reason, though where medical or veterinary complications have arisen we will always try to offer a credit.

We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule when necessary. You will be informed as soon as possible via email and/or text — please ensure we have your current contact details. Where sessions are cancelled or postponed due to weather, instructor illness or other circumstances beyond our control, we will offer an alternate date or a transfer credit.

Photography & Video: Photos or video taken during any Positively Together programme may be used for publicity or promotional purposes, including on social media. Please get in touch if this is a concern.

General Conduct: Spectators — including spouses, parents/guardians and non-participating children — must follow staff instructions at all times. Non-participating children must be fully supervised by their parent or caregiver. Please ensure they do not disturb the class or the animals.

Honesty is our policy. Please communicate openly — let us know of any concerns or questions and we will do the same.

Liability: Bex Tasker T/A Positively Together, and associated staff, contractors and volunteers, are not liable for personal injury, injury to any animal, or loss or damage to personal property.

You release and indemnify Bex Tasker and Positively Together against any liability resulting from your failure — or the failure of anyone accompanying you — to follow our instructions.

Private consults & lessons:
behaviour and training

Cancellations: A 24-hour cancellation policy applies. With more than 24 hours notice, we can arrange an alternate date. No-shows cannot be credited or rescheduled.

Before your appointment: Please ensure all dogs on the property are secured and under control prior to the consultant's arrival, unless specifically asked to have them present. Please let us know in advance if there are any other animals, people or circumstances we should be aware of.

Health & behaviour disclosure: You must disclose all relevant information about your dog prior to your consultation, including any history of aggression toward people or other animals. Failure to disclose known aggressive behaviour that results in injury to the consultant may result in legal liability on your part.

During the session: You are responsible for the behaviour and control of your dog at all times during the consultation. Our consultant will guide and advise, but handling remains your responsibility unless otherwise agreed.

Liability:  In-home consultations are conducted on your property and under your supervision. Positively Together and its staff are not liable for any injury, damage or loss occurring during or as a result of a consultation. By booking a consultation you accept full responsibility for the safety of your household, property and animals.

Dog classes

What to bring: A harness and/or flat collar (leather or webbing) with name tag, poo bags, a regular lead (1.5–2m, non-retractable), water bowl, lots of tasty treats and a favourite toy. No choke or prong collars, chain leads or retractable leads permitted.

Your dog's health & behaviour:  You must declare any medical or behavioural issues with your dog upon registration. We do not accept dogs with any history of dog-dog or dog-human aggression. If you are unsure whether this applies to your dog, contact us before attending — we can arrange an assessment or refer you to a veterinary behaviourist.

Venues: Off-site class venues are hired spaces that we rely on goodwill to continue using. Please treat them with respect and leave them as you found them (or cleaner). Any damage or mess should be reported to the coach.

Liability: Attendance at dog training sessions carries some risk to yourself, your family members and your dog. By attending, you understand and expressly assume the risk of any injury or damage incurred as a result of a session conducted by or on behalf of Positively Together.

If Positively Together is responsible for your animal in your absence, we are authorised to obtain emergency veterinary care if necessary. Every effort will be made to contact you beforehand. You accept responsibility for any resulting charges.

By accepting these Terms & Conditions you confirm you have disclosed all relevant information about your dog, including any potential or suspected aggression toward other dogs, people, wildlife or other animals.

Private kids lessons

Includes: riding, horsemanship, dog training, animal handling, etc.

Cancellations: A 24-hour cancellation policy applies. With more than 24 hours notice, we can arrange a make-up session during school holidays or some other mutually agreed time. No-shows or same-day cancellations cannot be credited or rescheduled.

Medical & special needs: Parents/guardians must notify staff of any relevant medical conditions, disabilities, special needs or other information necessary to ensure the participant's safety and comfort, and the wellbeing of our animals and other participants. If your child requires extra support, you may be asked to stay and assist.

Supervision & behaviour: A parent or guardian must remain on the property for the duration of the lesson, unless the coach agrees. Children must follow instructions from Positively Together staff at all times — this is essential for their safety around animals. Persistent failure to follow instructions or dangerous behaviour will result in the lesson being ended immediately, with no refund.

Next Gen youth programme

Next Gen dates are released at least 6 months in advance. We do our utmost not to change dates once set, but changes may occur due to extreme weather or coach illness. Refunds will not be given if your child is unable to attend a session. If a date is changed or postponed, a credit will be provided.

Medical & special needs Parents/guardians must notify staff of any relevant medical conditions, disabilities, special needs or other information necessary to ensure the participant's safety, comfort and optimal learning, and the wellbeing of our animals and other participants. If your child requires extra support, you may be asked to stay and assist.

Behaviour & safety Parents/guardians must communicate to their children the importance of following instructions from Positively Together staff — this is for their own safety and enjoyment, and that of the other children and animals. Persistent failure to follow instructions or dangerous behaviour will result in the child being collected immediately by their parent/guardian, with no refund.

On-site sessions

(Applies to any session held at 540 Wright Road, Aongatete)

  • Positively Together HQ is a working farm and private family home. It contains natural and man-made hazards including large animals, water troughs, stacked hay bales and electric fences.

  • All visitors must:

    • Wear covered footwear at all times

    • Stay within the paddock and driveway — keep children away from the house, gardens, lawns and deck unless invited

    • Not open gates, climb fences or feed any animals without explicit permission from Bex or her staff

    • Not bring non-participating dogs or other animals onto the property without prior permission

  • Our resident animals of all species must be treated with respect at all times. We take animal welfare very seriously. This means no picking up, chasing or otherwise bothering them! We teach our students that if an animal of any species flinches or pulls away from us (even slightly) as we approach or reach out a hand, we should withdraw and give them space. The only "yes" we accept is an enthusiastic ongoing yes. No means no in humans, and in animals.

  • Handling or being in proximity to horses and other animals carries an inherent risk of accident or injury. By registering to participate, students, parents/guardians and any attending or spectating family or friends accept this element of risk.

  • Bringing your own animal on-site If you have been asked to bring an animal, it must be kept under control at all times. Vaccinations must be current and a leash must be used. Please do not bring a dog that displays strong predatory behaviours or dog-dog aggression — contact us to discuss if you have concerns.

  • By bringing an animal onto the property you agree that Bex and/or her staff may take control of the animal, or ask for it to be muzzled, tethered, crated or removed, at any time. The safety of all people and animals on the property is our priority.

Horse clinics

By completing a registration form to attend a clinic, you are agreeing to these Terms & Conditions.

Our clinic environment: Our clinics are a safe space for participants of any level and background to ask questions and expand their understanding of horse behaviour, welfare and training. We ask that all participants come with an open and enquiring mind, and treat each other — and their horses — with kindness and respect at all times.

Payments & Cancellations: Deposits are 50% and non-refundable. For New Zealand clinics, any cancellation within 30 days of the event is non-refundable unless you find someone to take your place. For international clinics, fees are non-refundable unless you find a suitable replacement participant.

If an event is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances (such as facilitator illness), all fees including deposits will be refunded in full.

Fees & Venue Costs: Clinic fees cover the clinic itself only. Unless specifically stated, arena, venue and overnight fees are additional. You will be notified of these either at the time of booking or once final numbers are confirmed.

Health, Safety & Liability: Riding and handling horses is a dangerous activity. Horses can act in sudden and unpredictable ways. By registering you acknowledge this inherent risk and agree to participate at your own risk. Bex Tasker, Positively Together, the organiser/host and the venue are not liable for any accidents or injuries.

You must keep your horse under control at all times, both on the ground and while riding, and maintain a safe distance from other horses. If your horse damages any property, you are liable for any costs passed on by the venue.

You must notify Bex and/or the clinic host of any relevant medical conditions prior to the clinic, in case of emergency.

All health and safety rules set by the host must be followed at all times.

Horses Under 4 Years: Young horses are very welcome at our clinics — the format suits them well, as sessions are predominantly groundwork with only a short riding component. Participants with horses under 4 years old are welcome to join all groundwork activities but will not ride during the clinic. Non-riding participants may watch the ridden section or continue working in a separate area.
