Lifelong learning

I have been fortunate enough to learn in person from some of the world's best positive reinforcement trainers, including the incredible Dr Susan Friedman, Ken Ramirez, Dr Bob Bailey, Kay Laurence  Shawna Karrasch, Mary Concannon, Steve White, Peta Clarke, Alexandra Kurland, Peggy Hogan, Eva Bertilsson and more. Over 20 years in and the learning never stops! I am proud to have passed the rigorous testing process to be certified with Karen Pryor Academy as a KPA Certified Training Partner. ​​

​My origin story

I first learned about science-based positive reinforcement animal training in 2001 and quickly became obsessed with learning everything I could about the science and the art of training and behaviour, and particularly the use of clicker training / positive reinforcement with dogs and horses. I originally trained as a vet nurse in my early twenties, not because I wanted to vet nurse but because there really weren't any other options at that time for people interested in training and behaviour. I went on to work with Guide Dogs and then as a NZ Customs drug detector dog handler. I learned a lot there, but the environment was high pressure, and I craved the freedom to explore different training methods and non-traditional techniques.
